Connie Mack

Connie Mack didn't just manage the Athletics, he was the Athletics. He ran the club for 50 seasons, from its founding in 1901 through 1950, the longest managerial tenure in the history of Major League Baseball and a record that will almost certainly never be broken.

Along the way he built two separate dynasties, winning five World Series (1910, 1911, 1913, 1929, 1930) and nine American League pennants. Managing in a suit and tie rather than a uniform, waving his fielders into position with a scorecard, he became one of the most iconic figures the game has ever produced.
