The resorts closest to the A's ballpark at Las Vegas Blvd and Tropicana Ave, how to choose between Strip-side and off-Strip, and when to book for Opening Day 2028.
Quick answer: The closest hotels to the A's ballpark are the resorts around Las Vegas Blvd and Tropicana Ave. MGM Grand is directly across Tropicana Ave, and Excalibur connects to the intersection by pedestrian bridge, as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. New York-New York and Luxor are nearby on the same stretch of the Boulevard.
The ballpark is being built on the former Tropicana site at the south end of the Strip, with a target of Opening Day 2028, confirmed by the team. That puts it in one of the most hotel-dense corners of Las Vegas. This guide sticks to resorts we checked on their official websites, and it does not quote walking times or room rates, because neither has been published in a way we can stand behind. Which Hotels Are Closest to the A's Ballpark?
The ballpark's main entrance is planned as an elevated plaza tied into the existing pedestrian bridges at Las Vegas Blvd and Tropicana Ave, about 38 feet above the street, as reported by the Review-Journal. So the resorts connected to that intersection are the natural starting points.
MGM Grand
MGM Grand is directly across Tropicana Ave from the ballpark site (Review-Journal, August 2026), and existing pedestrian bridges link it to the intersection (Review-Journal, May 2026). Its official website lists its address as 3799 S Las Vegas Blvd. It is also home to the southern end of the Las Vegas Monorail, the MGM Grand station, though the Review-Journal has reported the Monorail is expected to be decommissioned eventually, with no date set.
Excalibur
Excalibur is the other resort the Review-Journal named as linked to the intersection by existing pedestrian bridges (May 2026). Its official website lists its address as 3850 S Las Vegas Blvd.
New York-New York
New York-New York's official website lists its address as 3790 S Las Vegas Blvd, on the same stretch of the Boulevard. It is already a game-night hub: T-Mobile Arena's official parking page lists New York-New York among its prepaid reserved parking options and uses its garage for Uber drop-off.
Luxor
Luxor's official website lists its address as 3900 S Las Vegas Blvd, a little farther south by street number than Excalibur. It is a reasonable option if the resorts closest to the intersection are booked, but it is not one of the resorts the Review-Journal named as connected by bridge to the intersection.
What about the rest of the Tropicana area?
The Tropicana itself is gone, since the ballpark is rising on its former site. The remaining Bally's land on the site is planned for a mixed-use project (Review-Journal, September 2026), but no hotel there has an announced opening date. We have not listed other nearby hotels because we could not verify their status and location on an official site for this guide.
Strip-Side or Off-Strip: How Should You Choose?

There is no single right answer. Here are the trade-offs to weigh, without pretending to know prices that have not been set.
- Strip-side at the intersection. Staying at MGM Grand, Excalibur or New York-New York puts you closest to the planned entrance plaza and the pedestrian bridges. That is the main appeal: less reliance on cars, rideshare or parking that has not been announced yet.
- Elsewhere on the Strip. Resorts farther north can still work, but you will be depending on transit, rideshare or a longer walk. Game-day bus routes and a rideshare zone have not been announced yet.
- Off-Strip. Off-Strip hotels can make sense if you plan to drive. Keep in mind that on-site parking is limited (about 3,055 spaces planned, per the Review-Journal) and prices are not announced. Our parking guide tracks what is known.
- Resort parking rules. If you stay at an MGM Resorts property and drive, MGM's parking page, checked October 4, 2026, says registered hotel guests get in-and-out privileges across its Las Vegas destinations within the same 24-hour period, subject to availability. It also notes prices may be higher during special events.
When Should You Book for Opening Day 2028?
The team has confirmed a target of "Opening Day 2028," and the Review-Journal reported construction completion is set for February 29, 2028. The actual first game date has not been announced, and single-game tickets go on sale "closer to opening," per the team.
- Watch for the official schedule release before you lock in nonrefundable dates.
- If you book early, look for flexible or refundable rates, since the date can matter more than the hotel.
- Line up tickets first, or at least know your path to them. Priority access, season tickets and premium seats are explained in our season tickets guide.
- Check what else is in town that weekend. T-Mobile Arena and Allegiant Stadium sit in the same part of the Strip, and their events can pull from the same hotel rooms.
