What Has Been Built So Far
Work started with the groundbreaking on June 23, 2025, and the team said foundation work was complete in February 2026. By May 2026, the Associated Press reported the lower bowl and lower suite level taking shape, with the upper deck going up since April. In August, crews set the second steel roof truss arch, and Mortenson-McCarthy project director Tyler Van Eeckhaut called it the start of a tremendous amount of work for the coming months. On October 7, the third arch was completed, marking the stadium's highest point.
What Comes Next
The next visible step is closing in the roof. Owner John Fisher told reporters in September 2026 that the roof would soon cover the facility, followed by interior work. After that come the seating bowl finishes, concourses, clubs, and the field. Construction is scheduled to wrap up on February 29, 2028.
The Money Behind the Build
The Review-Journal reported on September 29, 2026 that the price had risen to about $2.1 billion, and that the A's had covered all of the nearly $700 million in work completed so far. The Plaza and Bally's

The ballpark sits on part of a larger site controlled by Bally's, which plans a separate resort project with an elevated plaza at the stadium's front door. In May 2026 there was talk of a temporary plaza if Bally's financing lagged. In August 2026, the Associated Press reported that Bally's said it was in the final stages of securing financing for its first phase, so the A's would not need to build a temporary setup.
Where Did the Athletics Play in 2026?
Not in the new stadium. The A's played the 2026 season at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento, finishing 64-98, plus six regular-season home games at Las Vegas Ballpark in Summerlin in June. The 2027 plan is the same: West Sacramento, with six games in Las Vegas.
